Is PRS Writing Studio right for your child?
Writing Studio is a small-group writing program for students in grades 1 through 12. Groups are organized by age and skill level so instruction is appropriately paced and students are working alongside peers at a similar stage.
PRS Writing Studio may be a good fit if your child:

What Students Learn

PRS Writing Studio teaches writing as a skill system: explicit, structured, and matched to where each student is starting. Students learn the strategies writers use to think, plan, draft, revise, and communicate clearly.
Think Like a Writer
Students learn the thinking behind strong writing, including setting goals, considering audience, and using guided discussion and brainstorming to move from ideas to a clear plan.
Write for Different Purposes
Students practice narrative, informative, and opinion writing with direct instruction in structure and in selecting details that support their purpose.
Plan and Organize Ideas
Students use structured strategies to gather and organize their ideas before writing. Planning first reduces overwhelm and helps students know exactly what they want to say.
Revise and Reflect
Students use specific strategies to reread and strengthen their writing. Revision becomes a purposeful step that improves clarity and meaning.
Build Sentences with Intention
Students learn how sentences are built, expanded, and connected, so their writing becomes clearer, more detailed, and more complete.
Build Independence
Over time, students internalize the writing process and apply their skills to school assignments with increasing confidence and less support.
What Makes Writing Studio Different
Students are taught how to write, not just asked to write.
Every skill is taught explicitly, practiced with support, and gradually released so students can use it independently. Instruction moves at the student's pace, not the calendar.
Small group sessions allow students to hear other writers think, respond to ideas, and build skills through real discussion and collaboration, not isolated worksheets or silent writing.
Our Approach and Curriculum Foundation
Writing Studio is grounded in structured, evidence-based approaches to writing instruction that show strong outcomes for students with language-based learning differences. Instruction is explicit and sequential, with strategies taught directly and practiced until they become independent skills.
PRS tutors are trained in structured literacy as well as writing instruction, allowing them to support the full range of written language skills, not writing mechanics alone.

Start
Students often begin by approaching writing differently. Instead of getting stuck at the blank page, they learn a process that helps them start, organize, and move forward. This shift in how they begin writing is often the first change parents notice.
